Shooting small or close-up objects is often not easy with a regular lens. You need a special kind of lens from the great range of Minolta lenses to get perfect shots of anything you want to photograph. Adding filters and specialty lenses can create new dimensions for your work, expanding what you can do with it.

What is the Difference Between Macro and Close Up Photography?
While you may think that these kinds of photography are the same, there is actually some difference.
- Close-up photography: This kind is good for when you need to focus more closely on your subject, and you are shooting at a close distance. Some examples of things you might be shooting are flowers, portraits, animals, or objects for a website/catalog. Using a special close-up lens allows you to create dramatic and sharp images without losing your depth of field. There are two different kinds: a single element and a double element lens.
- Macro photography: This is when you are shooting a subject that is the same size or smaller than your camera's sensor. The result you get is life-size production or 1:1. A macro lens enables you to get this magnification level. Some examples of this involve shooting tiny insects, a dew drop on a petal, an eye, or a piece of grass.
What are some Camera Lens Models for Macro and Close-Up Photography?
- AF 100 mm f/2.8 macro: This was the world's first auto-focus macro lens and can focus directly to life-size without adapters. It has image stabilization and creates sharp images of your subjects.
- Soft Focus AF f/2.8: This is a unique lens that auto-focuses your subject and gives a soft surrounding effect which you can adjust. It can also work a normal 100 mm lens and has a circular aperture for a natural looking background.
Can I Use a Minolta Lens on Other Brand Cameras?
Most of the lenses are compatible with other brand cameras. Some can fit straight on and you don't have to do anything else. Others you will need an adapter to ensure that it fits and works properly. If you are not sure, it would pay to do some research about the lens model you want and check that the specifications say that it works with your brand of camera.
